Braquage accueille le week end du 3 et 4 mai 2025 l’artiste Sergej Vutuc, pour une exposition et deux soirées de performances & projections, à l’occasion de la sortie de son dernier livre IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA.
Né en 1979 à Doboj, en Yougoslavie (Bosnie-Herzégovine), Sergej Vutuc a grandi dans le bruit d’une histoire locale conflictuelle qui l’a déraciné jusqu’à Zagreb (Croatie) et Heilbronn (Allemagne) au cours de ses années les plus formatrices. Spontanément poussé vers l’éthique D.I.Y. et la culture punk en général, il a exploré, construit et échangé à travers le monde – le skateboard en particulier étant la clé de nombreuses serrures – avant de s’installer à Berlin, puis à Paris où son entreprise la plus récente consiste à encourager l’impression et les productions physiques sous le nom d’A La Maison Printing.
Un des thèmes récurrents dans le travail de Sergej Vutuc est la transmission d’informations, ainsi que la sélection, l’altération et la distortion naturelle de celles ci à travers le temps. Les techniques de documentation et de reproduction sont renversées car aucune discrimination n’est faite parmi ce que la plupart des gens considéreraient comme des interférences ou des abus de médium ; maintenant, le chaos reçoit une juste marge de manœuvre, la technologie exploitée est rincée, de nouvelles perspectives spatiales sont créées et les marques du temps ne portent pas de tabou.

Samedi 3 mai :
À partir de 16h : Ouverture de l’exposition et lancement du livre IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA, une boîte d’archives performative, faites de 8 boucles issues de la performance avec projecteurs du même nom : https://sergejvutuc.bigcartel.com/product/iz-kruznog-toka-sergej-vutuc-preorder
- 20h30 : IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA (2023-2025), performance audio-visuelle avec projecteurs 16mm et pédales, basée sur la transmission d’informations d’un médium à l’autre et la formation du sens, mettant en scène une forme qui existe dans l’instant. Les films, c’est-à-dire les boucles, ont été créées grâce à la photocopieuse, utilisant les photographies – réalité figée et les résultats imprévus de mouvements directs durant la reproduction, ainsi que des captures d’écran de documents de l’époque.
- 21h30 : REMINDER – MÉRRYL AMPE & SERGEJ VUTUC (2025), performance d’improvisation audio-visuelle, sera jouée pour la première fois par les deux artistes. Pour cette performance mêlant boucles de film 16mm et création sonore en live, Sergej a travaillé avec Méryll Ampe, sculpteur de formation et artiste sonore. Ampe conçoit le son comme un médium à sculpter en temps réel et improvise à partir de sources analogiques (oscillos, filtres, drum machine). Jouant avec l’imbrication de volumes, de perspectives et de dynamiques, Méryll crée des matières acérées et très brutes. En live, Ampe s’engage de manière instinctive et radicale, faisant appel à l’écoute du lieu et du corps qui lui sert de baromètre pour tisser des états sonores massifs qui se déploient, se croisent, se mélangent ou se décomposent. En résultent de tonitruantes salves de bruit abstrait et de saturations rythmiques.

Né à Berlin en 2017, sous une forme plus classique et moins itinérante, le succès du festival ROUNDABOUT (dû notamment à un programme de films toujours soigneusement sélectionné) a poussé Sergej Vutuc à faire évoluer le concept et, dernièrement, ROUNDABOUT prend vie au rythme des fréquents voyages et différents séjours de Sergej autour du monde; retraçant autant d’opportunités de rencontrer les travaux variés de cinéastes, photographes et artistes de tous horizons, avec un accent sur la qualité des présentations – de manière à offrir une alternative aux standards bâclé mis en place par une industrie fondée sur la consommation instantanée. Les entrées seront reversées à l’association Gaza Skate Team ( https://www.instagram.com/gaza_skate_team/ ) qui soutient les jeunes palestinien·ne·s à travers la pratique du skate.

On the 3rd and 4th of May 2025, Braquage is welcoming the artist Sergej Vutuc, for an exhibition of his work and two nights of performances and screenings around the release of his last publication IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA.
Born 1979 in Doboj, Yugoslavia – Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sergej Vutuc’s growth reverberates the noise of some conflicted local history which uprooted him as far as Zagreb (Croatia) and Heilbronn (Germany) in his most formative years. Spontaneously driven towards D.I.Y. ethics and punk culture at large, he went on to explore, build and exchange around the world – skateboarding in particular being the key to many locks – prior to settling in Berlin, then Paris where his most recent enterprise consists in encouraging print and physical productions under the name A La Maison Printing.
One of the recurring themes in Sergej Vutuc’s work is the transmission of information, with its natural selection, alteration and distortion over time. Documentation and reproduction techniques get flipped on their heads as no discrimination is made amidst what most would consider interferences, or medium abuse; now chaos is given fair leeway, the exploited technology rinsed, new spatial perspectives breed and the marks of time bear no taboo.

- 8:30pm : IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA (2023-2025), is an audio-visual performance with 16mm projectors and pedals, based on the transmission of information from one medium to another and the shaping of meaning, staging a form that exists in the moment. Films, i.e. loops, were created through the photocopier, using one’s own photography – frozen reality and the unexpected results
- 9:30pm : REMINDER – MÉRRYL AMPE & SERGEJ VUTUC (2025), an audio-visual improvisation performance, will be played for the first time by the two artists. For this performance combining 16mm film loops and live sound conception, Sergej worked with Méryll Ampe, sculptor and sound artist. Ampe conceives sound as a medium to be sculpted in real time and improvises from analog sources (oscillos, filters, drum machine). Playing with the interweaving of volumes, perspectives and dynamics, Méryll creates sharp and very raw materials. In live performances, Ampe engages instinctively and radically, calling upon the listening of the place and the body that serves as a barometer to weave massive sound states that unfold, intersect, mix or decompose. The result is thunderous bursts of abstract noise and rhythmic saturations.

Originally an initiative organized in Berlin since 2017 under a more classic, less itinerant skate festival form, its success (notably warranted by an always meticulously curated program) eventually drove Sergej Vutuc to push the concept to evolve and as of recently, ROUNDABOUT now just pops up here and there at the pace of Sergej’s frequent trips and various stays all over the planet; marking just as many opportunities to catch up with the varied works of skate filmmakers, photographers and artists with a wide range of backgrounds, with an accent on the quality of the presentations – as to offer an alternative to the commonly rushed standards set by an industry founded on instantaneous consumption.
